Massachusetts State Representative Paul Schmid Endorses Jake Auchincloss for Congress
NEWTON – Representative Paul Schmid of Westport has endorsed Jake Auchincloss for the 4th Congressional seat.
Rep. Schmid, who serves as the Vice Chair of the Joint Committee on Environment, Natural Resources and Agriculture and has represented the 8th Bristol district in the Massachusetts House of Representatives since 2011, said: “Jake has paid attention to Fall River. I have no doubt that he will be an active partner at the federal level. I support him enthusiastically."
Auchincloss said: “I first met Representative Paul Schmid at his office hours in the Fall River Senior Center. He was doing what a public servant should: taking care of his constituents. He’s a superb representative for Fall River, and I’m proud to have earned his ‘enthusiastic support.’ I believe that Massachusetts residents want their state and federal legislators to work together, and Paul and I will be close partners for the South Coast.”
Auchincloss is one of two candidates to have earned endorsements from Fall River-area elected officials. The endorsement follows Auchincloss’s position as the first candidate in the field to submit enough validated signatures to officially appear on the September 1 ballot.
