Fall River Mayor Paul Coogan Endorses Jake Auchincloss for Congress

Coogan Cites Auchincloss’s Diverse Experience and Ability to Lead in Crisis

BOSTON – FALL RIVER – Paul Coogan, Mayor of Fall River, today endorsed Jake Auchincloss for the Massachusetts Fourth Congressional seat. Coogan, previously Chairperson of the Fall River School Committee, was elected mayor last November with 79% of the vote.

Coogan said: “In the Marines, in business, and in local government, Jake has led from the front. Now, in a time of crisis, we need his leadership in Washington. I’m proud to support Jake for Congress, and am looking forward to partnering with him to deliver results for Fall River and the South Coast.”

“Fall River is a vibrant and diverse city, built and sustained by immigrants,” said Auchincloss. “It's a living repudiation of Donald Trump's dangerous and hateful agenda. I'm honored to have earned Mayor Coogan's support, and can't wait to work with him. As the mayor said in his inaugural: ‘we’re all in this together.’”

Fall River is the largest city in the district. Jake is the first candidate in the race to earn the support of any Mayor in the district. It builds on his momentum in the South Coast region — Coogan’s endorsement comes on the heels of endorsements from South Coast State Representatives Pat Haddad, Carole Fiola, and Paul Schmid. Jake was first to place a substantial TV buy in the Boston market with 30-second spot “Lead in Crisis,” hitting screens today. Earlier this month, Jake was the first in the race to go up on TV, airing a 30-second spot in the South Coast titled “A Marine’s Pledge.”
