Dan O’Connell, Secretary of Housing and Economic Development Under Governor Deval Patrick, Endorses Jake Auchincloss for Congress
NEWTON – Dan O’Connell, Secretary of Housing and Economic Development under Governor Deval Patrick, has endorsed Jake Auchincloss for Massachusetts’ 4th Congressional seat. Before joining Patrick’s administration, O’Connell worked for the Massachusetts Port Authority as Director of Planning and Development and served as Executive Director of the Massachusetts Industrial Finance Agency (now MassDevelopment). He also served as Chief of Staff to Congressman Ed Markey.
In his time as Secretary of Housing and Economic Development, O’Connell and his staff drafted Governor Patrick’s Life Sciences Initiative. On Jake’s op-ed “Life sciences manufacturing can be an economic lifeline”, O’Connell said: “As Governor Patrick's Secretary of Housing & Economic Development, I supported the success of his life sciences initiative. Jake's life sciences manufacturing plan is the right approach in this recession.”
Having grown up in a family of physicians, scientists, and public-health officials, Jake meshes a deep understanding of health care and the life sciences with knowledge of the Massachusetts economy and workforce. In his op-ed, Jake details the ways in which life sciences manufacturing can serve as a key sector in COVID-19 recovery, saving lives and leading Massachusetts back to prosperity.
